Stoner Creek Paris

I finally went fishing yesterday (Saturday). I wanted to go to Cedar Creek, but with the wind I wimped out. Glad I did, because it was bad on the creek. I had a good afternoon fishing but that was almost ruined because of my being stupid. I wasn’t paying attention and damaged my truck. Men will be men. The creek was warmer than I thought it would be. A low of 56 and a high of 61. The creek was up about 4 inches with some current. With those conditions I usually can find some good Smallies. The creek was quite clear. I started on some rocky banks, to my surprise I started catching Largemouths. Most were running small 10 inches or so. I did hook 2-4 larger fish but didn’t boat them. later in the day I started boating larger fish. My biggest was a little over 2 lbs. I only boated 8 smallies and they were all small except one. I was using small crankbaits. They all had some silver or chrome on them. One thing I have learned in my 55 years+ of fishing is in the spring slow down. Another thing I do is when I hit something ( rock or wood) I automatically pause. This is something I have mastered after years of practices. When you start reeling again if anything feels different set the hook. Thats how I caught most of my fish. I didn’t have a super day but a good start to the 2024 season. I finished with 40 fish boated, a little less than half were keeper or a little better. Till the next post hope to see you on the water.
