Taylorsville Lake Fishing Report

I needed to take my bass boat out and make sure it didn’t have any issues. I will be taking it to Canada next week to go fishing. I decided to go to Taylorsville Lake. The lake is muddy to murky down to Timber Creek. The water temperature was 67 degrees in the muddy water and 72 in the clear water. I didn’t think the fishing would be very good since they are dropping the lake a foot a day. Well to tell the truth the fishing was very good, but it ended up being one of my most frustrating day I can remember. I start fishing and found that the trolling motor steered the opposite of what I am use too. Last fall I had it worked on and when it was put back together it worked the opposite of what I have been use to for the last 40 years. It was like driving a vehicle and when you wanted to turn left you had to turn the steering wheel right. I got so mad I parked the boat and spent 2 hours trying to fix it. I had to quit and put it back together because I didn’t have the right tools. At about 1 pm the wind start blowing hard and with the trolling motor I must say I said a few cuss words. The only reason I stayed was the fish were biting good. The fish were near the banks in about 4 feet of water. I was using a chrome crankbait. The great Taylorsville water god collected 4 of them, two to fish breaking me off and two to rocks or logs. For the most part the fish were decent. Most were in the 13 to 14 inch range. I did catch 5 keepers. 4 were in the 15 to 15.5 range and one 17 incher. I finished the day with only 33 bass which I thought was good with the problems I was having. The fish are biting so give them a try. Till the next post hope to see you on the water.
