My nephew David and I decided to give Stoner Creek a try. We put in on a friend’s farm. I have to say that it was a strange day. The creek was clear and up a little with a good flow. The water temperature was 72 to 75 degrees. We were able to catch fish on every thing we tried. Crankbaits, worms, frogs, flukes and buzzbaits. The fish were very scattered. All the smallmouths we caught were very small. We caught most of our fish on mud banks which is very unusual. We even caught some in the middle of the creek. We did observe several largemouth’s that appeared to be still spawning. We caught allot of keepers with a fish David caught on a buzzbait being our big fish at 2.14 lbs. I finished the day with 39 and David caught 16. This was David’s first outing for this year so he was a little rusty. Till the next report hope to see you on the water.
